Corbel King

Just as the Titan portable band saw is designed to cut big timber, the Corbel King vertical band saw is designed to perform contour, free-hand, resaw, and rip cuts in thick timber too short to realistically clamp down for a portable bandsaw operation.. The table´s top is laminated with formica so big chunks of wood can slide freely in any direction. It is ideal for resaw, corbels, and short timber arches. It takes less than five minutes to convert from portable to resaw and back again, because all the parts are assembled with hand-turned knobs and it all snaps together ready-to-use or resaw. Once assembled, the table top serves as both parallel and perpendicular references. You can then create whatever fences, cross-cut bars, and patterns that suit your needs.

capital_dfronse.gif The Corbel King consists basically of four parts: the portable band saw, the table, the tabletop, and an interface bracket. Two thumb-screws secure the saw to a rotatable hex shaft between the two outside legs. Swing the band saw over and it seats itself into an adjustable yoke which centers it onto the table. The tabletop slips over the blade and drops onto the three permanent legs; to which it is attached with three thumb screws. The unsupported corner has notches to mount an easily removable 3/8" threaded rod with two more hand knobs. The top of this rod seats into a corresponding hole under the tabletop and slips into a slot at the corner of the adjacent leg. While holding the top knob with one hand, you tighten the other to its stop.

The threaded rod and knobs make sense when you go to change a band saw blade. The saw frame locks onto both the table and the tabletop with an interface bracket which ties everything together into one very rigid unit; and even more so with the *Modular Fence* . So now, what was once the lower blade guide extension rod is now the upper blade guide mounting bracket and it becomes clearer why we beefed that whole assembly up so much. You´ll want to drag the whole band saw around your shop floor by this blade guide, because you can. The saw doesn´t care. If you wanted to, you could still pick the whole thing up and walk out the door with it. That´s a very handy thing. If you enjoy cutting 8´´ slabs of timber into veneer you´re gonna love cutting 16´´ slabs of timber into veneer. Corbel King does everything the other resaw´s do, but twice as big. Does that open any new design possibilities for you? At that depth of resaw cut you´ll definitely want to use more aggressive blades; but hey, resaw SIXTEEN INCHES! This is where the new 1HP motor comes in real handy.
