Since 1999 the three-wheeled portable timber band saw we now call Titan has evolved in response to our customers´ feedback; and our own fervent desire to make the best damned timber band saw in the world. By far the favorite of leading timber framers here in the Rocky Mountains, the Titan portable band saw has raised the level of craftsmanship incorporated into fine timber frames, locally, to a point that they´ve come to represent the ´´Rocky Mountain´´ look which has become so popular worldwide. In 2005 we introduced the Convertible timber band saw which converts our 18´´W x 18´´H portable into a conventional vertical woodworking timber band saw in five minutes(and back again). With a throat size of 18´´W x 16´´H for resawing and detailed band saw cutting of timber corbels, we now call it the Corbel King and it´s become so popular it represents fifty percent of our band saw sales. Most customers report that our band saw paid for itself in the first week of operation. In 2006 our supply of wide-set big timber blades was discontinued and we were forced to fill in the gap by re-setting the only 2 and 3 TPI blades available, for tighter radii and faster ripping through green timber. Falberg Re-set Blades are highly recommended for those of you having difficulty getting flat cuts in 12´´ or more of Doug Fir and for tight-radius detail work such as rafter tails and corbels. There are still many of you who do not see the need for such a big portable. Many others just do not trust a three-wheeler so we are introduced the smaller, two-wheeled, portable, ELF. With its 8.5´´W x 12.5´´H throat it still enjoys the same balance, power, and drive train as the portable Titan; but with less bulk. And lower cost. BIG NEW IMPROVEMENTSWe streamlined the drive train on the Titan enough to balance a 1HP, C-Faced, TEFC, induction motor on a vertical mounting plate which eliminates clamping obstuctions in tight set-ups. A major improvement in maneuverability and Raw Power! We liked this new C-Faced motor mount so much that we also converted the Elf. The new motors are not only lighter in weight, they are also grey, so we changed our color scheme to match. I told you we were “Designers”, didn´t I? We have also drastically improved the lower blade guide extension and upper blade guide mounting brackets for increased durability and easier adjustment. The tension assembly is now even beefier. Take off your shoes and spend some time browsing our new website. Cut depths in excess of 8´´ are rarely discussed on other websites, so you might be interested to see how we cut contours and rips through 18´´ of Doug Fir, checking out the blades we use, and seeing some completed projects using Falberg portable bandsaws and convertible log and timber resaw mills. Each page is loaded with helpful information and videos. We made some new movies and we´re upgrading the old ones.
